The short answer

NHTSA received Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.’s report on Mar 5, 2025. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A defective tire may experience a sudden loss of air pressure and cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.

(Sumitomo) is recalling certain Dunlop GPR-300F tires, size 110/70R17M/C 54H.

The tires may have a defect that causes inner liner bulging and looseness at the tire breaker edge.

As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 119, “New Pneumatic Tires- Other than Passenger Cars.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
