What’s wrong with it?

A loss of park function can allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 10R80 re-manufactured automatic transmissions, that were used as service repair parts for 2017-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

Please see the recall report for the complete list of part numbers.

The automatic transmission T10 bearing may not have been installed, which can prevent the transmission from holding the Park position.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
