The short answer

NHTSA received Cognito Motorsports’s report on Sep 25, 2025. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

An upper control arm that disengages can cause a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

Cognito Motorsports (Cognito) is recalling certain Rev C Ball Joints with part number 91253, for installation on 2011-2025 GMC and Chevrolet 2500HD and 3500HD trucks.

The ball stud may pull through the housing, causing the upper control arm to disengage.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
