What’s wrong with it?
A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver’s view, increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023 Toyota Crown vehicles equipped with rearview and/or frontview cameras.
Due to insufficient laser welding, the camera cases may separate, allowing water to leak into the cameras and short circuit.
The rearview and front view camera images may not appear on the displays or display a distorted image.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
