What’s wrong with it?
An air brake tube that bursts can result in a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
Advanced Technology Products, Inc (ATP) is recalling certain OEC/Technidot black 1/4” DOT air brake tubing with part numbers DOTA04ABK, DOTA04CBK, and DOTA04DBK.
Sunlight exposure may cause the air brake tubing to crack and burst under pressure.
As such, this equipment fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 106, “Brake Hoses.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
