What’s wrong with it?
A steering wheel that turns unintentionally can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain electronic power assist steering (EPAS) gears, sold as replacement service parts for certain 2018-2023 Mustang, 2018-2020 F-150, 2018-2021 Expedition, and 2018-2021 Navigator vehicles.
The secondary steering torque sensor may not be calibrated properly, which can cause the steering wheel to turn side to side against the driver’s intentions.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
