The short answer

NHTSA received BMW of North America, LLC’s report on Jun 4, 2024. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A detached side bag holder can become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain BMW motorcycle dealer accessory side bag holders, designed to fit CE 02 motorcycles, with part number 77 49 5 A6B 236.

The mounting kit for the holder contains bolts that are too short and cannot attach securely to the motorcycle, which can result in holder detachment.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
