Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
An air bag that does not deploy in a crash can increase the risk of injury.
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain MOPAR steering column control modules, used as replacement parts in certain 2017-2024 Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram vehicles.
Please see the attached documents for specific part numbers and vehicle compatibility information.
The steering column control module may not be welded properly, which can prevent the driver’s air bag from deploying in a crash.
As such, these control modules fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
