The short answer

NHTSA received Corp. Micro Bird, Inc.’s report on Nov 23, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Wheelchair track anchorages that detach may not adequately restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Corp.

Mirco Bird, Inc.

(Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2006-2008 G5, 2010-2012 G5, 2014-2015 G5, and 2020-2021 G5 school buses equipped with transversal wheelchair track anchorages.

The wheelchair track anchorages may not sufficiently secure a wheelchair and detach during a crash.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 222, “School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
