The short answer

NHTSA received Daimler Trucks North America, LLC’s report on Nov 2, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A rear lifting bracket that detaches while the engine is being lifted can result in the engine falling or swinging, increasing the risk of injury.

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2024 Freightliner M2 and 114SD vehicles equipped with Cummins L9N engines.

The rear lifting bracket that attaches to the engine cylinder head may be insufficiently secured, which can allow it to detach.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
