NHTSA received Hyundai Translead’s report on Oct 12, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.
- Do not drive NHTSA’s advice to owners (needs attention)
- 562 vehicles potentially involved, by NHTSA’s count
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
An improperly welded cross brace can detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard. A falling cross brace may also damage the air tank airline, causing an unintended brake lock. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Hyundai Translead is recalling certain 2022-2024 CGN3-20/40 and CGNS-20/40 12-Pin extended chassis.
The cross braces located above the chassis air tanks may have been improperly welded.

Hyundai Translead will work with owners and repair shops to apply welds and install brackets on cross braces, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 19, 2023. What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
