The short answer

NHTSA received Maserati North America, Inc.’s report on Aug 10, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A body structure that does not perform as intended and a roof with insufficient strength may not adequately protect occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Maserati North America, Inc.

(Maserati) is recalling certain 2023 MC20 Cielo vehicles.

The windshield frame stud sealant, which retains the stud connecting the windshield frame to the body, may not have been installed, which can reduce body structure performance and roof strength.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 216, “Roof Crush Resistance” and 214, “Side Impact Protection.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
