What’s wrong with it?
A loss of air pressure can increase the risk of a crash.
Sumitomo Rubber USA, LLC (Sumitomo) is recalling certain Falken Wildpeak AT3W with size 265/70R17 115T and Wildpeak HT02 with size LT235/85R16 120/116S tires.
Due to a manufacturing error, the tires may have a puncture in the sidewall and leak air.
As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
