The short answer

NHTSA received Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems’s report on Dec 21, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Delayed parking brake engagement can result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.

Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems (Haldex) is recalling certain inversion valves.

Please see the attached 573 Defect report for full list of part numbers.

An internal piston in the inversion valve may fail, delaying the engagement of the parking brake.

As such, these valves fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, “Air Brake Systems.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
