The short answer

NHTSA received Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)’s report on Nov 28, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Turn signals and/or high beams that do not function as intended may cause confusion or reduced visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar Steering Column Control Modules, with part numbers: 68508697AB, 68508699AB, 68508700AB, 68508701AF, 68508702AF, 68508704AF, and 68508698AB.

When installed into a vehicle, the steering column control module may cause the high beams to activate when using the turn signal, or the turn signal to activate when using the high beams.

As such, these modules fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
