The short answer

NHTSA received Ricon Corporation’s report on Nov 22, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Beacons that do not provide proper illumination may be less visible to wheelchair lift users, increasing the risk of injury.

Ricon Corporation (Ricon) is recalling certain Threshold Warning System Kits (TWS) with part number RI32885, designed for use with Ricon Baylift and Mirage Series wheelchair lifts.

The red beacon lighting on the TWS may not be bright enough.

As such, these kits fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, “Platform Lift Systems.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
