The short answer

NHTSA received Outfitter Manufacturing’s report on Aug 21, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Outfitter Manufacturing (Outfitter) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Caribou Lite 6.5, Caribou Lite 8, Caribou 6.5, Apex 8, 2021 Apex 8 LB, and 2022 Caribou Lite 8.5 truck campers, equipped with certain SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops.

The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture and cause a gas leak.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
