The short answer

NHTSA received TOKAI RIKA Co LTD’s report on Feb 6, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A seat belt assembly that extends further than intended may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Tokai Rika Co LTD (Tokai Rika) is recalling certain front-seat outer right-side seat belt assemblies.

Please see the recall report for a complete list of affected part numbers.

The seat belt assembly force-limiter may not operate correctly, allowing the seat belt to extend further than intended after locking.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
