Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
A trailer parking brake that sets unexpectedly can cause unintended vehicle motion, and increase the risk of a crash.
Kalmar Solutions, LLC (Kalmar) is recalling certain 2015-2022 Ottawa T2 terminal tractors.
The trailer handbrake valve and the trailer parking brake valve vent lines are plumbed together.
This can cause the trailer parking brake to set unexpectedly when the trailer handbrake is released.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, “Air Brake Systems.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
