The short answer

NHTSA received S&B Filters, Inc.’s report on Aug 17, 2022. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Inadequate vapor space of the fuel tank can cause the tank to swell and leak fuel if it contacts the driveline, increasing the risk of a fire.

S&B Filters, Inc.

(S&B) is recalling certain Diesel Fuel Tanks, with part number 10-1021.

On some RAM Mega Cab vehicles that have a larger diameter driveline, the diesel fuel tank may have insufficient clearance and contact the driveline due to the inadequate vapor space.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
