The short answer
NHTSA received Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)’s report on Jul 14, 2022. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
Inoperative TPMS sensors will not alert the driver to low tire pressure. In addition, a TPMS warning light that is already illuminated from a failed battery sensor will mask an actual tire pressure failure issue. Either of these scenarios can result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar Tire Air Pressure Sensors, part number 68487472AA.
The sensor battery may fail prematurely and cause the sensor to become inoperative.
As such, these sensors fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
