The short answer

NHTSA received Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC’s report on Apr 13, 2022. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Brake lights that do not operate as intended can cause confusion to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC (Bendix) is recalling certain Brake Lights, Model DCM-BB and part number 10049991.

The connection between the brake pedal and brake light switch may bind, causing the brake lights to illuminate continuously, or fail to illuminate when the brake is applied.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
