The short answer

NHTSA received Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA’s report on Oct 25, 2021. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

An owner that references an incorrect VIN label may not recognize their vehicle is involved in a safety recall, and may not have the recall remedy performed, which could increase the risk of injury, fire, or a crash.

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain 2021 Tracer 900 GT (MTT9GTM) motorcycles.

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) printed on the Federal Certification label may not match the VIN stamped on the vehicle.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
