The short answer

NHTSA received Trail King Industries, Inc.’s report on Jul 20, 2021. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A detached steering arm may cause a loss of steering control. In addition, attachment hardware may fall and become a road hazard. Both of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Trail King Industries, Inc.

(Trail King) is recalling certain 2018-2020 TKOLB332NG-HH, TKOLB336NG, TKOLB336NG-HH, TKOLB434NG-HH, and TKOLB436NG-HH vehicles equipped with Dexter Smart Steer axles.

The steering arm may detach from the steering knuckle during certain low-speed, high-side loading maneuvers.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
