What’s wrong with it?
A helmet that does not provide adequate protection increases the risk of injury during a crash.
Strategic Sports, LTD.
(Strategic Sports) is recalling certain Simpson Performance Products Shorty OTW (Over the Wall) helmets, part number ST-205, in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL manufactured March 1, 2017-August 11, 2020.
The helmets lack proper retention system integrity, penetration protection, and labels.
As such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, “Motorcycle Helmets.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
