What’s wrong with it?
If the engine compartment flap detaches from the coach while it is in motion, it can become a projectile, increasing the risk of a crash.
Daimler Coaches North America (DCNA) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Setra S407 and 2019-2020 S417 passenger coaches.
The engine compartment flap may not have sufficient welding seams on the hinges, allowing the hinge connection to fail and the engine compartment flap to detach from the coach.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
