The short answer

NHTSA received Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.’s report on Apr 22, 2020. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Damaged wires may cause the rear side air bags to not deploy as intended. Additionally, the driver may not be warned if the second row right seat is not locked into place correctly after using the “Easy Entry” function. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.

(MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLE 350 and GLE 450 vehicles equipped with an electrically adjustable second-row seat.

The wiring harness under the seat may become pinched during seat adjustment, possibly causing damage to the wires.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
