Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
Jammed electrical contacts in the brake light switch can cause the brake lights to remain illuminated, or fail to illuminate. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC (Bendix) is recalling certain SL-4 Brake Light Pressure switches with part numbers K101993, K101996, K108141, and K108142 manufactured between December 1, 2019 and January 31, 2020.
When air pressure is supplied to the brake light switch it may leak, possibly causing the internal electrical contacts to become jammed.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
