The short answer

NHTSA received Spyder Controls, Corp’s report on Aug 21, 2020. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 21, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If too much voltage is applied to the unit and the circuit board becomes damaged, there would be an increased risk of fire.

Spyder Control, Corp (Spyder) is recalling certain G9 electronic control units, part numbers BMODWTIR1, DMODZTIR4, and BMODWTIR4.

These units can fail if excessive voltage is applied, causing the components on the board to become damaged.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
