What’s wrong with it?
If the drum transmission fails while the vehicle is in motion, the drum may stop rotating and concrete could discharge from the drum onto the road, increasing the risk of crash.
McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc.
(McNeilus) is recalling certain ZF CML12 Ring Gear Carriers, part number 1474124, with serial numbers 5250958, 5250960 and 5250961, sold as field service parts.
The ring gear carriers may have cavities located in the toothing, which can lead to premature failure of the drum transmission.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
