What’s wrong with it?
Removal of the cluster display and throttle control and loss of brake lights may increase the risk of a crash.
Dennis Eagle Inc.
(Dennis Eagle) is recalling one 2017 Diego vehicle.
If the changeover switch fails while the vehicle is being driven from the right-hand side (RHS), the instrument cluster and throttle controls may switch to the left-hand side (LHS).
In addition, if a passenger presses the brake pedal, the Electronic Braking System (EBS) will be disabled and the brake lights may not illuminate.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, “Controls and Displays” and 121, “Air Brake Systems.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
