The short answer

NHTSA received North American Repower LLC’s report on Mar 25, 2019. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

The forcible ejection of the stem may increase the risk of injury to those nearby. Additionally, the unintended release of CNG can increase the risk of a fire.

North American Repower LLC (North American Repower) is recalling one 2005 Navistar International 1652 4x2 Compressed Natural Gas vehicle equipped with CNG tanks that have Luxfer One-Turn valves recalled under 18E-111.

If the knob is turned more than one turn, the valve’s snap ring may fail and the valve stem may forcibly eject from the valve body.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
