The short answer

NHTSA received Diamond Coach Corporation’s report on Feb 28, 2019. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

In the event of a crash, if the seat back moves, the seat occupant has an increased risk of injury.

Diamond Coach Corporation (Diamond Coach) is recalling certain 2018 Transit MPV/VTUM and 2018 PT 2000 transit buses equipped with Freedman GO-ES Foldaway Seats.

When the back seat cushion is rotated from the stowed position to the upright position, the seat cushion may not remain locked into place when under load, such as in a crash or a sudden stop.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, “Seating Systems,” and number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
