The short answer

NHTSA received Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.’s report on Oct 21, 2019. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A detached tread can decrease vehicle stability thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.

(Sumitomo) is recalling certain Falken ZIEX CT50 A/S tires, size P255/50R20 104V, having date code 1619, Dunlop SP Sport 5000 tires, size 215/45R18 89W, having date code 0919, and Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires size P215/50R17 90V, having date code 0619.

An incorrect rubber compound may have been used in manufacturing, which may allow sections near the tread surface to become partially detached.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
