The short answer

NHTSA received Stanley Assembly Technologies’s report on Aug 26, 2019. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the user relies on the inaccurate pressure and continues to inflate the tire, the tire may burst due over-pressure, increasing the risk of an injury.

Stanley Assembly Technologies (SAT) is recalling certain MAC Tools DTG1000C, DTG1000, DTG1000B, DTG1000A, and DTG1014 tire pressure gauges sold exclusively though MAC independent dealers.

The gauge may display a lower than actual pressure when the battery voltage is low.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
