What’s wrong with it?
Due to the improperly positioned headlamps, the vehicle may not be recognizable as a motorcycle in the dark, increasing the risk of crash.
Arcimoto Inc.
(Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2017-2018 FUV motorcycles.
The headlights on the motorcycles may be spaced too far apart to appear as a motorcycle to oncoming traffic.
As a result, the motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, “Lamps, reflective devices, and associated Equipment.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
