The short answer

NHTSA received Daimler Trucks North America LLC’s report on Mar 12, 2018. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 23, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Electrical arcing in the presence of leaking power steering fluid can increase the risk of a fire.

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2011-2017 Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) XBR, XCL, XCM, and XCR recreational vehicle chassis, equipped with Cummins ISL engines.

The power steering hose on the affected vehicles may be routed incorrectly, and, as a result, the hose may rub against the power stud on the starter motor, possibly causing electrical arcing and a power steering fluid leak.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
