What’s wrong with it?

If the crane moves in a way that was not intended, it can increase the risk of injury to those nearby.

Iowa Mold Tooling Co., Inc.

(IMT) is recalling certain Omnex Proportional Wireless Transmitters, part numbers 70733882 and 70733883, used for controlling cranes.

These wireless transmitters have a diode that can fail, possibly causing the crane to move in an unintended manner.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
