The short answer

NHTSA received BatteryJack Inc.’s report on Nov 12, 2018. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A helmet that does not adequately protect the wearer from an impact can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

BatteryJack Inc.

(BatteryJack) is recalling certain DSR 808 Black, MatteAl, AM, and AXL adult motorcycle helmets, size medium, large, and extra large.

These helmets may not adequately protect the wearer in the event of a head impact during a motorcycle crash.

Additionally, these helmets may not be properly labeled.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, “Motorcycle Helmets.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
