The short answer

NHTSA received Alpha Technology Corp’s report on Oct 10, 2018. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

The vehicle stall from the engine turning off could increase the risk of a crash.

Alpha Technology Corp (Alpha) is recalling certain mechanical key ignition switch systems, part number FOJ57 00000.

Over time, weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the RUN position into the ACCESSORY position, turning off the engine.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
