NHTSA received PTL Engineering, Inc’s report on Jul 27, 2018. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the door opens while moving, it could become a distraction to the vehicle operator and other drivers and/or objects may fall out and become road hazards. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.

PTL Engineering, Inc.

(PTL) is recalling certain 3000 and 7000 Series recreational vehicle Entry Doors, part Numbers 009-227 and 019-064.

The latch rod may be improperly adjusted, allowing the door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 206, “Door Locks and Door Retention Components.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
