What’s wrong with it?
A brake fluid leak can reduce brake effectiveness, increasing the risk of a crash.
Industrias Martinrea de Mexico SA de CV (Martinrea) has submitted a Defect Information Report based upon decisions made by Chrysler (FCA US LLC) and Ford Motor Company to conduct recalls (numbers 18V277 and 18V389 respectively).
The brake circuit hose assemblies located between the master cylinder and the hydraulic control unit, may have been manufactured without anti-corrosion plating on the coupling fittings, or “ferrules,” of the hoses.
This can lead to premature corrosion, and result in a brake fluid leak.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
