Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the caliper bolts are improperly torqued and the caliper detaches from the mounting flange, a loss of braking ability would occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
West-Mark is recalling one 2011 2TANCX3A tanker trailer manufactured with an MPA/MTA suspension equipped with Meritor EX225 brakes.
The brake caliper bolts on this axle may not be properly torqued which can allow the calipers to detach from the mounting flange.
As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, “Air Brake System.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
