Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the transmission is not in neutral when the engine begins running, there may be unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.
Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Tec (Eaton Cummins) is recalling certain Endurant transmissions, part numbers EEO-17F112C, EEO-16F112C and EEO-18F112C and PACCAR transmissions, part numbers PO-14F112C, PO-15F112C, PO-16F112C, PO-17F112C and PO-18F112C.
The transmission control module (TCM) may allow the engine to crank briefly even if the transmission shifter is not in neutral.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, “Transmission Shift Lever Sequence/Starter Interlock/Transmission Braking Effect.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
