What’s wrong with it?
In the event of a crash, if the seat-mounted air bags cannot deploy as intended, the occupants have an increased risk of injury.
Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company (HSM) is recalling certain Summit-brand driver and front passenger seat accessory seat covers sold for use in RAM ProMaster, Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter vehicles.
The outside edge seam of the seat cover may not open up as designed, possibly affecting the deployment of the seat-mounted air bags in the event of a crash.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
