The short answer

NHTSA received Strategic Sports, Ltd.’s report on Mar 13, 2017. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

In the event of a crash where the rider hits the helmet twice in the same spot, the helmet may not adequately protect the wearer, increasing the risk of injury.

Strategic Sports, Ltd.

(Strategic Sports) is recalling certain Zox Nano Helmets sizes XL through XXXXXL, with manufacture dates of February 2013 and March 2013.

The helmet size and the date of manufacturer are printed on a sewn-in black fabric label, inside the helmet.

These helmets may not adequately protect the wearer in the event of a secondary head impact during a motorcycle crash.

As such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, “Motorcycle Helmets.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
