What’s wrong with it?
If the Federal Placard is missing the correct axle information, the operator may overload the trailer, causing a loss of a vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Forest River, Inc.
(Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2017 XLR recreational trailers, models XLF413AMP, XLF422AMP, WZXLF422AMP and XLF380AMP, manufactured September 29, 2016, to November 8, 2016.
The affected vehicles may be equipped with an incorrect Federal Placard that does not indicate that the vehicle has a third axle.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
