What’s wrong with it?
Without the horizontal adjustment locking clip being secured, the headlight can be adjusted to either reduce the driver’s visibility or blind oncoming vehicles. Both conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.
(MMNA) is recalling certain model year 2017 Mirage vehicles manufactured October 28, 2015, to August 4, 2016 and equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps.
The affected vehicles may have been assembled without the headlight horizontal adjustment lockout clips properly secured.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirement of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
