The short answer
NHTSA received ALUMA/KLM’s report on Aug 2, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the trailer tongue separates, the rear of the tongue retainer and tongue tube will drag on pavement and the trailer will not be properly secured to the tow vehicle, resulting in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Aluma/KLM is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 5410T and 5410WD trailers manufactured January 1, 2011, to June 1, 2015.
Due to missing welds, the trailer tongues may separate from the body of the trailer.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
