What’s wrong with it?
If the GAWR and/or GVWR limits are overstated, the driver may overload the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
East Manufacturing Corp.
(East) is recalling certain model year 2016 Hybrid and Steel Dump trailers manufactured May 16, 2016, to June 2, 2016.
These trailers may have incorrect Federal Certification labels with overstated gross axle weight ratings (GAWR) and/or gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR).
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
